While on professional experience, I have been invited to attend the Quality Teaching PD’s that my site run every fortnight for the whole teaching staff in the school. Each fortnight they focus on a different element and I have had the pleasure of being involved in the Design Element. In week one, the Design Question 2 “What will I do to help students effectively interact with the new knowledge” was asked and elements 6 to 13 were addressed. Each group was given an element and I was in the group that got element 6 “Identifying Critical Information”. Each group is required to prepare a 3 minute presentation on their element and present it at the next quality teaching meeting in week 3. This will mean that even though we only specifically covered element 6, we will get to observe presentations for all elements in the Design Question 2. This is a great way to cover lots of information in a short time and to see other perspectives on approaches across the different curriculum strands. I have really enjoyed being a part of this Quality Teaching program offered at this site.
